2: It’s not a resolution, it’s stepping stones

I listened to a podcast this morning on my commute to work which spoke about the psychology behind New Years Resolutions, and the reasons why over 90% of people tend to give up on them by January 15th. To me, this seems obvious; if you set yourself an over-arching goal such as “I want to lose 2 stone in 2018” or “I want to cut sugar out of my diet completely” then as soon as you meet a challenge or a block in the road which means that you cannot stick to your diet/exercise regime, then we tend to see this as a reason to stop bothering.
